MEDIA ADVISORY: 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) Change of Command scheduled

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, July 21, 2009) – Col. Carl E. Phillips will assume command of the 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) from Col. Curtis D. Boyd in a ceremony Thursday, July 30 at 9 a.m.

The ceremony will take place on Meadows’ Parade Field located next to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Headquarters.

Phillips, a native of New Jersey, comes to the 4th PSYOP Group (A) after graduating from the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.  He is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology and was commissioned there as a second lieutenant in the Infantry.  Phillips has held many leadership positions within the special operations community. His most recent prior assignment with the 4th PSYOP Group (A) was as the commander of the 9th PSYOP Battalion (A), 4th PSYOP Group (A).  

Boyd, the commander of the 4th PSYOP Group (A) since July 2007, will become the Chief of Staff at the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, N.C.
The ceremony will be presided over by Lt. Gen. John F. Mulholland Jr., Commanding General of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.

Media should meet at Stryker Golf Course on Bragg Boulevard at 7:30 a.m. on July 30. The media convoy will depart Stryker no later than 7:45 a.m.
