Two Afghan Public Protection Force members killed in IED strike
BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (Courtesy of CJSOTF-A Public Affairs, April 26, 2009) – Two members of the Afghan Public Protection Force were killed today when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Nerkh district, Wardak province.
The force was conducting a combat reconnaissance patrol with Coalition forces in order to confirm or deny insurgent presence in the area when their vehicle struck an IED, killing two APPF and wounding three others.
Coalition forces medically evacuated the wounded to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“Our condolences go out to the families of these brave men whose only wish was to see peace in Afghanistan and whose lives were cut short by the hands of insurgents,” said a Coalition spokesperson.
