U.S. Special Operations Forces kill two suspected Special Groups criminals in Sadr City

BALAD, Iraq (Courtesy of CJSOTF-AP Public Affairs, May 8, 2008) – U.S. Special Operations Forces snipers killed two suspected Special Groups criminals in the Sadr City area of Baghdad May 7.

U.S. SOF conducted an operation to provide security for Iraqi and Coalition forces making safety infrastructure improvements in Sadr City.  

During the operation, Special Groups criminals attacked the team with a coordinated complex attack involving two improvised explosive devices, rocket propelled grenades and small arms fire.  U.S. SOF returned fire killing two enemy fighters on a rooftop. 

The operation likely disrupted Special Groups activity and IED networks in the Sadr City area.
