USASOC Soldier dies in Germany
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Aug. 30, 2005) —  A Soldier assigned to Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Special Operations Command here died Aug. 28 at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany, from wounds sustained Aug. 25 in Husaybah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his position there.

FORT LEWIS, Wash. (USASOC News Service, Aug. 29, 2005) — In an unprecedented achievement, Fort Lewis based 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) took the first, second and fourth places for military teams in the third race of the 2005 Fort Lewis Triple Threat Triathlon series Aug. 20.

(USASOC News Service, Aug. 27, 2005) — Two Soldiers assigned here to Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Special Operations Command and one Army Ranger assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment died Aug. 25 in Husaybah, Iraq, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near their position there.  
SF veteran reflects on Afghanistan trip
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Aug. 26, 2005) —  A retired Special Forces veteran who recently returned from southeastern Afghanistan says Special Forces Soldiers there are being aggressive in their pursuit of  Taliban insurgents and the country is heading in the right direction.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Aug. 15, 2005) — An Army Special Forces Soldier died Aug. 11 in the Afghan province of Uruzgan, north of Kandahar while conducting pre-mission training for pending combat operations.

CALGARY, Alberta (USASOC News Service, Aug. 12, 2005) — Lt. Gen. Philip R. Kensinger, Jr., commander, U.S. Army Special Operations Command awarded approximately 100 Combat Infantryman Badges to Canadian and American World War II veterans assigned to the First Special Service Force during a formal awards ceremony here Aug. 12.

Special Forces Soldier dies in Iraq
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Aug. 8, 2005) — A 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Soldier based at Fort Campbell, Ky. died Aug. 5,  near Rabiah, Iraq when a civilian fuel truck collided with a Humvee while performing a convoy mission there. Two other 5th SFG(A) Soldiers were injured in the incident.  
Two Army Rangers die in Afghanistan
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, Aug. 8, 2005) — Two Georgia-based Army Rangers died in Afghanistan Aug. 4 after their vehicle slid into the Kunar River northeast of Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
